I tested the Nihola Bike at a trade fair. Can you transport more than two children with it?
Each child needs its own seat and must be belted in during the ride. A third child can be transported with a conventional child seat at the back back. If you need to transport more than three children, we would recommend our model Nihola BIG, which can carry a total of six children.
Where can I test-ride a Nihola bike?
You can try
out the Nihola bikes at the stores:
Berlin, Copenhagen and Amsterdam.
Many of our customers will be glad to
demonstrate their bikes to you.
We work
together with one of the biggest haulage firm and can deliver the Nihola bike
all around the world.
How can I transport a Nihola bike by car?
The best way
is to use our newly developed tow bar bike rack. As an alternative, you can
fasten three individual
bicycle carriers onto the roof of your car.
What are the metal brackets on the front mudguards for?
These are
brackets for the Design light package. White light shines to the front and red
to the back. At the same
time, they act as positional lights in darkness so that other drivers can see
that it is a wide bike.
Can I have a smaller transport cylinder?
The transport
cylinder is an integral part of the frame and steering, so it can neither be
reduced in size nor left out.
I would like to know what NIHOLA means
The Nihola
bike is named after the Danish mechanical engineer Niels Holmes Larsen
who designed. The first Nihola bike was produced in 1998 and since then over
1000 have been sold worldwide. The
Nihola concept and parts of the Ackermann steering are patented.
I live in a mountainous region. Can I still use the Nihola to get around with my two children?
For customers in mountainous areas we recommend the following combination: 7-speed hub gear and the Florian Schlumpf Mountain-Drive. The Mountain-Drive is a planetary gearing system that is built into the bottom bracket and doubles your low gears, simulating large chainwheels. It makes pedalling noticeably easier even with a full load. It can be fitted on every Nihola bike.
Are the Nihola bikes made in Christiania?
The Nihola Bike is manufactured by Nihola Cycler ApS in Copenhagen. There is no connection to the company Christiania Bikes. Christiania Bikes have been manufactured on the island of Bornholm for many years now.
Can the Nihola bike be acquired with a Rohloff hub?
Rohloff speedhubs can be installed on your Nihola at the factory. They can also be installed subsequently on all Nihola Bikes with V-Brake mounts. A number of details must be taken into account when selecting the Rohloff hub. For more information, please contact us.
Why is the transport box round and not the usual rectangular shape?
In contrast to other load carrier trikes, with
the Nihola you do not have to move the whole load in order to steer. The front
wheels pivot independently around the transport box thanks to Ackermann
steering. The round shape of the box improves the general driving performance
by reducing the necessary width of the vehicle.
My mother can?t walk so well anymore. Can I get a Nihola Cigar with an opening in front so she can get in more easily?
Due to the great demand, we have modified the
Nihola Cigar. The top rod at the front was lowered and the seat was expanded to
the front of the vehicle. This makes it possible to transport elderly people.
The new model Cigar rickshaw is available as of now.
